Service Description

Dowel Jones is a Naarm (Melbourne)-based furniture and lighting studio founded by Adam Lynch and Dale Hardiman. Known for its playful and innovative approach to design, Dowel Jones has collaborated with a wide range of designers and artists and strongly supports local makers and creative communities. In Dowel Jones’ workshop, Dale will encourage students to expand their ideas around art, design, and function. The workshop will invite participants to experiment with unconventional materials and explore creative approaches to lighting design. This workshop is process-based, meaning we encourage full creativity and emphasise the experience of making art rather than focusing solely on the finished product. That being said, each student will leave with a unique artwork/s they can feel proud of. Thursday 9 July 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM (1.5 hours) Ages: 6 - 15 years old Location: 1 Raleigh St, Footscray Somethings to take note of: - Our workshops are a drop off and pick up class but if your child/ren need extra support or assistance please speak with us prior to the session so we can organise adequate seating etc. - We try our best to keep the children clean but please make sure your child is wearing something that is ok to get messy in. - All workshops are facilitated by registered teachers and the artist. This means that students can work in smaller groups of similar ages and skill level where needed. - We do not offer refunds or the opportunity to make up the class due to the nature of our one off workshops with specialised artists. If you can't make the class we are happy for you to send someone else in your child's place, just let us know. - We want to make sure that our artists are paid well for what they do. Because of this we require 40% of bookings to be filled to run the workshop. If the workshop isn't going ahead you will be notified and a full refund will be processed.
